  Arts & Museums
Don’t miss visiting the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester.  While we are in the city, the
museum will be featuring Romare Bearden: A Black Odyssey that looks at Homer’s epic through an
African-Amercan lens using colorful collages and watercolors.  This is the 75th Anniversary of the
  museum.
The Currier also manages tours of the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Zimmerman House, so if
you are interested in architecture, this may be something you’d like to see.
The Palace Theater has a show running in June called My MX Tape: The Sound of the 80’s.
Check it out and possibly just check out the theater.  It is a few blocks away from the hotel.
The Verizon Theater is a main entertainment venue and you can find a Circuq du Soliel
production of Varekai playing there.  Visit the website for more information and tickets.
Fabric mills are part of the history of this region and a wonderful one is located in Manchester, the
Amoskeag Millyard.  You can visit the Millyard Museum to learn more about this industry and
  its contribution to the region.
Interested in financial history?  The Credit Union Museum is located on the site where
America’s fist credit union opened its doors in 1908.
  Bookstores
Lee’s Spot at 917 Elm St. seems to be a possible place to browse and look for old books.
Double Midnight Comics is located at 245 Maple St.  They have a Facebook page.
The Book Cellar is at 581 Second St.
  Shopping
The Hampshire Plaza Shopping Center is located several blocks from the hotel and has
several places to eat and an ATM, but not too many places to any other kind of shopping.
A bigger shopping center is the Mall of New Hampshire on Willow St., which is a car ride away.
Might be public transportation to it.  But it has a lot of stores to choose from.
There are many small stores, food shops and other business on Elm Street and other streets near
the hotel.  Check out this Google map for everything in the area.
  Scenic
For a little bit of outdoor exploration try, Livingston Park.  There’s a lot to see and do.  Many more
parks in the area are listed on the Recreation web page. including Bass Island Park, Bass Island
Park, Derryfield Park, Gill Stadium, and other lakes and parks.
The Veterans Memorial Park is just across from our hotel, so be sure to visit that.  It’s a great
place to sit and eat lunch if the weather is nice.
There’s also the Merrimac River Park where you can walk along the river.  It’s a pretty good walk
from the hotel, but not too bad if you’re in shape.
  Weather
Typically, Manchester has temperatures in the mid-70’s (F.) with the lows in the mid-50’s.  But
check about a week before you travel. With the weather pattern this year, we could have anything.
Always plan for cool evenings and possible rain.  It was cold and wet when we were there in May
  last year.
  Transportation
Manchester does have the MTA Bus Service in the city.  You can check out the various routes for
where you might want to go.  You can purchase a day pass for $4.00 from the web site.  Please try to
go in groups so we don’t lose anyone around town.
