Believe in Zero

A nexus between the PWFC and children’s charities has existed from our beginning in 1996. The joy of fellowship that we have experienced has naturally led us to wish to share our fortunate means with those facing a harder road. Perhaps this is born of an instinctual feeling that if we can improve the quality of life of the poorest children, then the future of all people might be better. Over the years the PWFC and the Wingfield family have raised funds for a series of programs. With trust in the Wingfield family’s choice we enthusiastically embraced UNICEF U.S. Fund’s “Believe in zero” initiative in November of 2008.

i believe in zero buttonThe goal of “Believe in zero” is to eliminate the unnecessary deaths of children by providing basic needs such as vaccinations, clean water, and mosquito nets. Simple things that can save lives, improve health and thus improve the future.

And it is not just money that will help. Getting involved, spreading the word, signing the petition. Try wearing an ibelieveinzero.org button. It seems such a simple thing, wearing a button, until the first time you explain the message when asked what does it mean, this 25,000 with a line through all but the last zero? Well, twenty-five thousand is the number of children who die everyday from preventable causes. It catches in your throat and you feel it in your heart. Please help. Do what you can by donating, or saying these difficult words, “Twenty-five thousand children die everyday of preventable causes. We want the number to be zero.”
